Here is a step by step guide on how to create your own custom keychain with us.
Prepare your design
If you work with a designer, they will usually provide a digital file of the final design. If you have created your own design, make sure it is in a digital format compatible with the one we created your model in. Ai or PNG works best for us to ensure we have a high quality version of your artwork when creating your model. We also accept PDF, PNG and JPEG files.
What if I can't design my own artwork, or I can't afford to hire someone to do it for me?
We're here to help. Free! Here's how: Grab a pen and paper and sketch out your ideas for us. It doesn't have to be perfectly drawn, the purpose of the sketch is to give us a good understanding of what you want the design result to be, rather than blindly guessing what you want, which saves us time revising back and forth.
Even sketch samples, we can easily turn them into digital artwork.
Decide on the type of keychain
We are able to make all major types of keychains: soft enamel, hard enamel, die-struck, and acrylic keychains.
Here's how they differ:
Hard enamel keychains are made using a process called "cloisonne," which involves filling the dimmed areas of a metal base with colored enamel and then polishing the surface to make it smooth and shiny. Hard enamel keychains are known for their durability and are often used for promotional items or collectibles.
Soft enamel keychains are similar to hard enamel keychains, but the enamel is not as thick and the polish is not as smooth as hard enamel. Enamel is usually embedded in the metal, and the dimmed areas around the enamel are usually not polished. This gives the design some depth and dimension. Soft enamel key chains are cheaper than hard enamel keychains and are also good for promotional items.
Die-struck keychains are made by stamping the pattern on a metal base with a mold. This creates a raised design that is more 3d and stands out against a metal background. Die-struck keychains are also popular, but they tend to be more expensive than enamel keychains due to the cost of moulds.
Acrylic keychains are made of plastic material. They can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes and are more affordable than metal keychains. They can be made with designs using laser cutting, engraving or printing processes. They are lightweight and can print full-color designs and images.
In the end, the type of key chain you choose depends on your specific needs and budget. Hard enamel key chains are the most durable and have the highest finish, but they are also the most expensive. Soft enamel keychains are a more affordable option and still have a nice finish, while die-struck keychains are a good option that require a raised surface design. Acrylic keychains offer a more economical solution and can be customized in a variety of ways
Decide the size of your key chain
We are able to cater to a wide variety of size options, from 1/2 inch to 4 inch, as well as custom sizes according to design requirements. You can choose the size you want in your order or simply inform your account manager about your choice.
Choose metal finishes (unless you are making acrylic finishes)
We can create keychains made of gold, 24k gold, rose gold, silver, black nickel, black dyed metal and anodized metal, among others.
